Born in Chesterfield, Derbyshire in 1956, A professional graphic artist and illustrator for more than 35 years in the Newspaper and Magazine Industry, he has continued to paint a variety of subjects throughout his commercial career.
Living close to the Peak District naturally led him towards landscape painting, but has also been constantly inspired by the coastal scenes of the North Yorkshire Coast.

Watercolours and Acrylics are his prefered medium, but also paints in Oils and Pastels, focusing on transient lighting conditions with particular interest in atmospheric effects, with the sunlight and shadows they produce during the changing seasons.

Studio painting accounts for most of his output, but prefers to venture outdoors whenever possible to paint on location
‘plein air’ to experience and capture the colour and light direct from nature itself.
